Anxiety and depression are heavy burdens that can leave us feeling trapped, weary, and alone. But God’s Word reminds us that He is near to the brokenhearted, and His peace is stronger than our fears. Scripture doesn’t dismiss our struggles—it meets us in them, bringing light into our darkest moments. Here are several verses that bring comfort, strength, and hope when anxiety and depression press in.
Philippians 4:6–7
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God… will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Prayer opens the door for peace to replace anxiety.
Psalm 34:17–18
“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
God is not distant in your pain—He is closer than ever.
Isaiah 41:10
“So do not fear, for I am with you… I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
God’s hand holds you steady when you feel weak and overwhelmed.
Matthew 11:28–29
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Jesus welcomes the weary and promises true rest for your soul.
Psalm 42:11
“Why, my soul, are you downcast?… Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.”
Even when your soul feels heavy, hope in God brings strength to keep going.
John 14:27
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you… Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
The peace of Christ is deeper than fear and stronger than despair.
2 Corinthians 12:9
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
God’s grace meets you in your weakness, lifting you up with His strength.
Friend, anxiety and depression do not define you—God’s love does. His Word is a lifeline, reminding you that you are not alone, that His peace is available, and that His strength is enough.
Whisper this prayer today: “Lord, I bring You my anxious thoughts and heavy heart. Fill me with Your peace, strengthen me with Your grace, and remind me of Your unchanging love.”
Take heart—you are held in the hands of the One who never lets go.
