7 Bible Verses to Help You through a Difficult Time

Life is full of valleys—moments when hope feels dim, strength runs low, and the path ahead seems uncertain. Yet even in our hardest days, God’s Word shines like a lamp to guide us and a hand to lift us up. Scripture reminds us that God is near, faithful, and mighty to save. Here are seven verses to cling to when you’re walking through a difficult season.

1. Psalm 34:18

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
When pain feels overwhelming, God’s nearness becomes our comfort. He bends low to heal the wounds no one else sees.

2. Isaiah 41:10

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
God’s presence means you never carry your burdens alone. His hand holds you steady when your strength falters.

3. Philippians 4:6–7

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God… will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Peace doesn’t come from the absence of problems but from the presence of God. Bring Him your worries, and let His peace protect your heart.

4. Romans 8:28

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
Even when life feels broken, God is weaving it into a greater story of hope. Nothing is wasted in His hands.

5. Matthew 11:28

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Jesus doesn’t ask you to carry life alone. His rest is an invitation to lay down your heavy load and breathe in His grace.

6. 2 Corinthians 12:9

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
Your weakness is not failure—it is the place where God’s strength shines brightest. His grace is enough for this very moment.

7. Psalm 46:1

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”
When storms rage, God is your safe place. Run to Him, and you will find both protection and courage.

Friend, difficult times may shake us, but they cannot separate us from God’s love. These verses remind us that He is close, He is strong, and He is faithful. Whatever you face today, you are not facing it alone.

Hold on to His promises. Let His Word breathe peace into your heart, and trust that the One who began a good work in you will carry it through. Your valley is not the end—it is a place where God is walking with you.
