Fear is something we all face—fear of the unknown, fear of loss, fear of failure, or even fear of the future. Left unchecked, fear can paralyze us and steal our peace. But the good news is this: God’s Word gives us courage and hope. Again and again, Scripture reminds us that we don’t have to face fear alone. His presence is with us, His promises are sure, and His love casts out fear. Here are seven verses to encourage your heart when fear tries to take hold.
1. Isaiah 41:10
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
God’s presence drives away fear. You are never alone—His hand is holding you steady.
2. Psalm 56:3
“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”
Fear may come, but trust in God is greater. Each time fear rises, let it become a reminder to lean on Him.
3. 2 Timothy 1:7
“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”
Fear does not come from God. He has given you power, love, and a sound mind to overcome it.
4. Joshua 1:9
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
God’s command to Joshua is also His promise to you—strength and courage are possible because He goes before you.
5. Psalm 34:4
“I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.”
Prayer opens the door to freedom. God is faithful to hear and to deliver when we call out to Him.
6. John 14:27
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you… Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
Jesus gives peace that is deeper than any fear. His peace guards your heart when fear tries to overwhelm.
7. 1 John 4:18
“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear.”
God’s perfect love pushes fear away. When you rest in His love, fear loses its power.
Friend, fear may knock at your door, but it doesn’t have to take residence in your heart. Each of these verses is a reminder that God is bigger than what you fear. His presence gives courage, His promises bring hope, and His love casts out fear.
Next time fear rises, declare these Scriptures over your life. Whisper this prayer: “Lord, I place my fears in Your hands. Fill me with Your peace and remind me that You are greater than anything I face.”
Remember—fear is real, but God’s power and love are stronger. You don’t have to face it alone.
