One of the most comforting truths of Scripture is this: Jesus is not only Savior and Lord, He is God Himself. He is the Word made flesh, the image of the invisible God, and the One who holds all things together. When we see Jesus, we see God’s heart revealed—His love, mercy, and power displayed in human form. Here are six verses that clearly show us this truth and encourage us to rest in His divinity.
1. John 1:1
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
From the very start, Scripture affirms Jesus’ eternal nature. He was not created—He is God, present from the beginning.
2. John 10:30
“I and the Father are one.”
Jesus Himself declared His unity with the Father, making it clear that His identity is divine.
3. Colossians 2:9
“For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form.”
Jesus is not partly God—He is fully God. Every attribute of God dwells in Him.
4. Hebrews 1:3
“The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.”
If you want to know what God looks like, look at Jesus. He reflects the glory and essence of the Father perfectly.
5. Titus 2:13
“…while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.”
Paul proclaims Jesus not only as Savior but as our great God, the One we are waiting for in hope.
6. John 20:28
“Thomas said to him, ‘My Lord and my God!’”
When Thomas saw the risen Christ, he confessed what we all must: Jesus is Lord and God, worthy of worship.
Friend, knowing that Jesus is God changes everything. It means the One who calmed storms and healed the broken is the very God who created the universe. It means the One who forgives your sins has all authority in heaven and on earth. And it means you can trust Him fully—because He is not just a good teacher or a prophet, but God Himself, who came to rescue you.
Take comfort in this: the God of all creation loves you so deeply that He entered the world as Jesus, to save you and bring you home.
Whisper this prayer today: “Lord Jesus, thank You for showing me the heart of God. Help me to trust You, worship You, and follow You as my Savior and my God.”
